Where medicine meets the whole of who you are

Conventional psychiatry treats symptoms. At New U Psychiatry, we meet the person beneath them: your nervous system, your story, your body, your spirit and work with all of it.

We take Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Optum (this includes United Healthcare) commercial insurances. At this time, we do not take Medicare or Medicaid.

You might be here because:

You've tried therapy and medication and something still feels missing.

You want to understand why you feel this way, not just manage the symptoms.

You sense that healing is possible at a deeper level than you've been offered.

How We Work

A different kind of
first appointment

Most psychiatric intakes gather information about you. Ours is designed to meet you, through your body, your life, and your story, in a single coherent arc. You'll leave the first session having already begun something, not just been assessed.

Our signature psych intake:

Door One · Body

First 20 minutes

Breathwork & Somatic Entry

Before any history-taking, we begin with a brief breathwork practice together. The breath is a direct readout of your nervous system, where you hold tension, what you're protecting, what wants to move. This gives us more clinical information than hours of talking, and immediately tells you: this is different.

Door 2 · Terrain

2nd 20 minutes

Lifestyle & Biological Assessment

We walk through your day: sleep, nourishment, movement, connection, meaning. We're not checking boxes; we're listening for where your life has contracted. From this we determine what labs are needed: thyroid, hormones, inflammation, nutrients. These often reveal what conventional psychiatry has missed for years.

Door Three · Story

Final 30-45 minutes

Depth Psychiatric Interview

Now and only now, we enter your narrative. Not as a symptom checklist, but as a meaning-centered conversation: what patterns keep repeating, what your symptoms may be communicating, what your life would look like if this resolved. We close by co-creating a direction forward, not a unilateral treatment plan, but a shared agreement.
